What to do in a plumbing emergency
If you do suffer a burst pipe or plumbing emergency, don’t panic, here are the first things you should do:
1. Turn the water off at the stopcock.
2. If you don’t know what is burst, switch the heating off and turn your taps on.
3. If the water’s coming through a ceiling, make a small hole to let the water drain into a bucket, which will prevent water collecting above the ceiling. Or wrap a towel around the leak if it’s accesible to collect water.
